What does it mean to worship while wrestling with doubt? How can we step out in faith despite our uncertainties? Join us as we explore the Great Commission and discover how to embrace our mission as a church. Let's dive in together!
Prayer Prompts
Use these prompts to guide your prayer time as we prepare our hearts for Sunday.
We come before you, Lord, in a spirit of worship, acknowledging your greatness and power as the risen Savior. We worship you because you are our Creator, our Deliverer, and the source of our purpose. Help us to fully embrace our worship, recognizing that it is through this act that we are reminded of your holiness and love, and may our hearts be open to the mission you have set before us.
Lord, we confess that we often carry doubts that hinder us from fully engaging in your work. Despite our uncertainties about the future and our own shortcomings, we ask for your strength to move forward in faith. Help us to share your love and invite others to know you, even when we feel anxious or fearful. May we trust in your provision and guidance as we step out in obedience to fulfill the Great Commission.
Hey, Cross Church family. Welcome to the
Sunday setup. This is our time each week
where we gather digitally together as a
church Thursdays at 2:00 to pray through
the piece of scripture that we'll be
preaching through this Sunday. Well,
this week, uh, we are starting a new
series and really a new 2-year
initiative that's going to take us on a
disciplehip journey that we're excited
to see how it stretches our church, how
it pulls our church, and how it pushes
us as believers. But this entire series
is all centered around the great
commission. So, if you have a Bible, you
can flip to Matthew chapter 28. And I'm
going to read Matthew 28:16-20, which is
the core passage that we're going to be
preaching through and seeing each week.
But I want to just dwell on a just a one
verse in this that we're going to pray
through and spend some time just
preparing our hearts for. But Matthew
28, starting in verse 16, it says this
that the 11 disciples, they traveled to
Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had
directed them. When they saw him, they
worshiped, but some doubted.
Jesus came near and said to them, "All
authority has been given to me in heaven
and on earth. Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing in
the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe everything I have commanded you.
Remember, I am with you always till the
end of the age."
verse 17, it's kind of this interesting
phrase as they see Jesus, the risen
Jesus Christ. It says right off the bat
that they worshiped him. And church, as
we go into this new series, as we go
into Let's Go, as we talk about this
next chapter of our church, it all
starts here with this this worship that
we approach God with. And I just want to
start with a prayer of praise to him.
That's just simple and short is God we
worship you because God we worship you
because God we worship you because you
are the risen savior. God we worship you
because you are the creator of all that
we know. God we worship you because you
are all powerful. Cuz you are all
knowing. God we worship you because just
take just a few minutes just speak those
to our God. Why is he so worthy of our
worship?
God, we worship you because you are
holy. God, we worship you because you
are perfect. God, we worship you because
you are great beyond our imagination.
God, we worship you because you deliver
us. Because you give us purpose. because
you give us drive. Because you allow us
to be a part of something that is bigger
than ourselves, God, we worship you
because you are worthy of it. And you
demand it by your very presence.
But check this out, church, as they're
worshiping him. It's very honest here.
And it says that some doubted. And
here's the thing is sometimes in our
worship, we're still doubting that we
can trust God enough that he'll provide
in where we need him to provide. That
he'll open doors we need to be open.
that we can keep going and and be
uncomfortable. Whatever there's doubts
we have in our anxiety, in our pride, in
our envy, in our jealousy, you name it.
We're full of doubts. But here's where
we need to rely on God. And here's our
second prayer prompt is God, let me do
your work despite the doubt of. God, let
me do your work. God, let me make you
known. God, let me invite people to
church. God, let me share you despite
the doubts of just start naming some of
the doubts that maybe you have that you
need to get over to God. The doubt that
God, can I still provide for my family
if the economy takes a turn? God, can I
still provide for you despite the sin
that keeps creeping up in my life? God,
can I truly raise my kids in such an
uncertain and crazy culture and time
that seems like everything is pushing
back against Christian values? Give your
doubts to God. Say, "God, let me do your
work despite these doubts that I have in
my life."
Just take a little bit of time and pray
that to our God.
God, if we're honest, we are full of
doubts.
doubts that are at the core prompted by
our sin, prompted by uncertainty,
prompted by fear and anxiety.
But Lord, we come back to we worship you
cuz you are worthy. We worship you cuz
you are powerful. We worship you cuz you
are holy. We worship you cuz you are all
knowing.
And Lord, we just ask that you quell our
doubts and that our doubts
don't keep us from doing your work.
And we see when they're worshiping you,
God, even though they doubted, you still
gave them the mission to go forward. And
Lord, let us be on mission to go to go
therefore to make Jesus known to make an
impact in our community despite the
doubts that we may have. God, we thank
you for our church family. God, we thank
you for this season we're going to
enter. We're excited about it and see
all that you have planned for us. And
Lord, we know we don't do it in our own
power, but we do it in your power and in
your will. God, let us make you known
through worship despite the doubts we
have. God, we lift all this up in Jesus
name. Amen. I thank you, church, for
joining us today. Be here this Sunday as
we talk about this next season of our
church. As we say, let's go wherever God
leads. and we get to be a part of
something that is greater than
ourselves. We'll see you this weekend.
Heat. Heat.
