The Tired Fight

Job 22–27 Surprise October 25, 2026

Today we gather around God's Word to pray through, praise through, and preach through a piece of scripture so that we can practice to rest in the Refiner's hands.

Pray

Psalm 121:4

Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep.

God, thank You that I can find rest from _____________ in You alone.

Praise

Thank God I'm Free

I couldn't do it so You did it for me.

Why we sing it
You may have walked in tired, but the weight you carry was already defeated at the cross.

Come Thou Fount

My restless heart finds rest in You

Why we sing it When we are too tired to fight or defend our case, our rest is found in God alone.

Holy Forever

If you've been forgiven and if you've been redeemed Sing the song forever to the Lamb

Why we sing it
God is worthy of praise when we're too tired; the redeemed's song doesn't depend on us.

Cornerstone

When darkness seems to hide His face / I rest on His unchanging grace

Why we sing it
We leave resting in God, our hope built not on our strength but on Jesus' blood and righteousness.

Turn over for the message & this week’s next steps.

“Yet he knows the way I have taken; when he has tested me, I will emerge as pure gold.”

Job 23:10

Preach

Suffering Reality:
The book of Job takes us from WHY to WHO, but by round three everybody is too tired to ask either one.

When we fight tired...

• We slander – 22:6–9

• We shrink – 25:4–6

• We stop – 22, 25

When we defend tired…

• We get bitter – 23:1–2

• We get bleak – 24:1–12

• We get biting – 26:2–4, 27:5–6

Enduring Truth: You can be too tired to find God, and still be the gold He's refining – 23:8–10; 1 Peter 1:6–7

Practice
